Nuts are great but they are not a complete protein with all the amino acids, so dont replace chicken /fish/eggs etc with nuts.
Whey isolate is best, Caesin might upset your stomach as it takes longer to digest (some prefer that before they sleep but during the day it can be uncomfortable.)

Eggs, poultry, steak, cottage cheese, fish, milk and of course protein powders are all excellent.
