What the teacher is doing is completely wrong. You entered in to the 5K for your own personal goals, not to compete against her, or anyone else. If she asked if she could run with you, then that's all she should do. You were generous enough to say she could, but that should not give her the right to turn in into a competition between the two of you. The teacher is on an ego-trip IMO. Her attitude is also causing issues with not only your daughter and her friends, but friction theoretically between yourself and your daughter, because understandably she will want you to win. Don't get drawn in to a race with her, since that will stress you out, and that was not your original intention in the race. When you get to the end, if she says 'I win', just ask 'Sorry, win what?...I was never in a race, I was competing for fun...I thought you knew that'.
