Lightbulb Share your useful tips...

People know so much unshared knowledge that I felt this thread might be a good idea for us to share tips on anything and everything that we feel might be useful for others.

Coca cola, or peanut butter, place on a garment that has grease on it, and then immediately wash the garment, will bring out grease.

Even though these have been tried and tested, you can try these ideas on smaller items first, but if it's life-or-death want to save the item then what is there to lose?

Good idea for a thread!

I've stopped using Kitchen towel altogether, cos it seemed so wasteful and expensive, so I just have lots of dishclothes, that I throw in the washing machine when ever I put a wash on.

Is that the kind of thing you had in mind?

Yep, absolutely any useful info.

On the paper towel front, I use it for hankies because the regular sort make me sneeze due to the fibrousness of them, so kitchen towel works fine, looks odd, but works a treat, and no sneezing/allergy to it

My boyfriend told me this one, when you get gloss paint on your hands rub it with olive oil and then wash off with washing up liquid.

Also I've got a load of tips to make glasses last longer if there are any other glasses wearers out there:

Wash gently with a little liquid hand soap and rinse under the tap, then leave to dry and just polish the watermarks off with the cleaning cloth.
Never use washing up liquid it can take the coatings off
Never use tissue its like microscopic sandpaper
Always take glasses off with both hands, don't swipe them off with one hand it will wear out the hinges.
If you prefer a soft case(I do cos its so much lighter) don't lie it down in your bag to get squashed, but stand it up

If you get marker on wood furniture, mix baking soda and water into a paste. Let sit on the area for a couple of minutes and rub out. (test area first! =-))

Mix 1 tablespoon of L-Glutamine powder in a small amount of cold water and drink ; stops heartburn/acid indigestion, without upsetting the balance of acids within the stomach, by tightening the sphincter muscle so that acid cannot irritate the sensitive part of the throat.

It works very quickly, and is good, I have been using this technique for over 3months at bedtime, and sleep like a baby, instead of the agony I felt for 2 weeks over Christmas when it all began.
