Over alcohol

Is anyone else out there over alcohol? I have not had a drink for three weeks now, not that I drank much to being with, as I have a little baby boy to look after. I am know starting to realise it is not needed to relax, have fun, enjoy yourself. I know alot of people that get very intoxicated every weekend, and I am kinda sick of hearing about how wasted they were and stuff.
Whats more annoying is that they don't know how much damage they're doing to their bodies. Why does nobody consider alcohol when dieting and looking after themselves, why the hell is drinking acceptable??

It seems to be the accepted norm here in australia especially in Queensland most people who find out hubby and i don't usually drink (once or twice a year) are shocked. It has a lot to do with peer presure and what society considers normal.

Well done being off the booze for 3 weeks

Thats great to hear!! I am very determined to cut it down, only occasionally have a wine if we go out for a nice dinner which isn't much when you have a bub to look after he he
Yeah alot of people in brisbane drink. It's the brizzy lifestyle, it's ok to get wreaked all the time.

Alcohol is a major problem in Scotland and it's really annoying to have to walk past drunks especially if you have to be out and about at night, or when it's dark and not even that late. Arguments are forever being heard, loud, street fights over nothing...I hate it. I have a few drinks at Xmas etc, but usually no more than 3 double vodkas, which is nice but not over the top....but it seems others can't enjoy a drink unless they can say that they couldn't remember the night before

I guess "escaping reality" thru intoxication is the cure for the human ailment ...at least so it would seem by the amount of people who drink. But it has a rich tradition in many cultures and physically/psychologically addictive so I dont see it becoming illegal for a verrrry long time... thank god.... it would ruin alot of my weekends.

PS- but i think its fine you dont and commend you on being able to quit something a lot of people cant.

I'm with you. As a rule I only drink at special occasions, and even then it's one glass of red with dinner. But at a celebration the other week I succumbed to peer pressure and free tequila... I can honestly say I would prefer to run until I fainted than to ever feel that way again. For the next week I was dehydrated, my workouts were adversely affected and you could smell the difference in my sweat!!!
