Lightbulb Minimum calorie intake for women.

From: Bean & Wellington (pp. 117-118)

This is a basic formula which allows a female to work out their Resting Metabolic Rate...which is the minimum amount of calories that you will require just to survive at rest for one day:

Multiply your weight in pounds by 10.

Example:

weight = 9 stone/ or 126 lb
multiply 126 x 10= 1260

So a woman of 9 stone would require 1260 calories minimum just to exist. This does not take into account any activity, but shows the base amount that you must eat to survive.

I decided to put this up because there are so many diets out there, which women get trapped in to following, and which will take a woman below even the Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR), and this is not good.

Activity has to be added into the equation, and added on to the RMR figure. The normal RMR for women is between 1200-1500 calories.

Remember that activities need to be fuelled by extra calories, this includes day-to-day activities of walking/cleaning etc, so 1200 calories for example, is not enough for the day.
