Everybody here are giving great advice. Switching to low glycemic index diet is the best way to control your foods, especially in my case where both parents are diabetic so I'm prone to troubles also.
My addition - switch your coffee with green tea. Green tea really helps me balance blood sugar tides and avoid binges.
Plus it's strange, but the bitter taste of the tea (I drink it without sweetners) actually gradually decreased my sweet tooth.
All the previous posts are great advice and I would definitely try them first, but as a last resort chromium supplements work for me, although I hesitate to use them nowadays as my pharmacist told me that if you have too much the body can't get rid of it and it builds up & causes you damage.
I start out with a carrot or two, then if I haven't cut my craving add in a little protein (small piece of chicken, a few nuts... not an entire serving, etc.). Then if I am still "hungry" I drink a little milk, seems to help.
