coffee question....
okay, so i was doing some research, and apparantly coffee is very bad if you are trying to get rid of cellulite. i guess that makes sense as it's a diuretic.
but i was under the impression that caffeine can help speed up your metabolism. i'm sure it can both speed up metabolism and cause dehydration (and therefore cellulite), but perhaps if one consumes extra water to make up for the dehydration, it might not cause cellulite??
anyways, what are your opinions on coffee, and how many should one have a day? i have about 6 now...is that bad? i recently started making iced coffee's and mixing my protein shake in it, and it is SOOO good. tastes just like an icecap, but MUCH lower in fat and calories. 2 cups coffee, .5 cup 1% milk, ice and vanilla flavoured protein powder. you have to try it!

That shake does sound really good...the coffee with vanilla protein powder, etc. Do you recommend a specific brand of protein powder? I am new to the protein shake realm...

coffee actually also mobilizes triglycerides (fat cells), so it's more than just the diuretic effect. 6 cups a day sounds like a lot to me. moderation seems the key with everything. You will find that your energy improves if you ever decide to give up coffee. Caffeine in coffee is particularly harsh at wearing out the adrenals -our natural source of adrenalin.

i use kaizen whey protein isolate. it is VERY tasty, better than most brands i've tried, and it's quite a bit less expensive too. i buy it from costco and for 2 kgs it is around 45$. this is in toronto though, i hope you're able to find something comparable.

I think coffee is great, and does help with weight control. If nothing else its low in calories. I keep it to 3 cups max though or I get hyper. I limit it to the mornings and/or just before a work out because I do find it stops me sleeping otherwise.
Don't forget tea and green tea and coke and dr peppers and chocolate contain caffiene too.
I sometimes add coffee powder to my protein shakes but theres no reason why you can't use decaf.

I think that 6 cups a day are a little too much. The dehydration effect is only a minor problem, you can easily compensate it with drinking water. As stikfigure mentioned, coffee influences the production of adrenaline and six cups definitely have an effect on adrenalin. Maybe you can come down to 2 or 3 cups a day, that would be a good compromise IMO.
