Weight loss for pregnancy

Hi there

My partner and I would like to start trying for a baby from next july, we've chosen to start that far away because I would like to lose weight before I fall pregnant.

I'm 5' 8" and weigh 220lbs does anyone have any ideas on the best way for me to lose weight but still be healthy for pregnncy? I've calculated that my ideal weight is 170lbs so I would like to lose 50lbs.

I've been told that some exercise, like kickboxing, can be dangerous when you're trying for a baby, can anyone confirm this and what sort of exercise should I be doing? Most of the weight is around my tummy/bum/thighs area

Any help is much appreciated!!

i never heard of any exercises being harmful when you're just trying for a baby. now when you're pregnant, that's a little different. but depending on how active you were before you were pregnant determines how active you should be during pregnancy. i've heard of women kickboxing while pregnant, and even got accidentally kicked, (she was too close to the person next to her) but everything is fine.

personally, i don't think you should worry too much about exercises before pregnancy. just take your prenatal vitamins and you should be fine. i'm pregnant right now, and still run and lift weights, not as much as before, but just enough. i don't want to gain so much weight during this pregnancy. this will be my third child. i had my first while in the Army and got out right before i had my second. so i exercised before during and after both of my pregnancies before.

ya i think you should do exercise as exercise will not have any effect on your pregnancy. get on some diet before being pregnant
