What to have when I finish working out

My goal is to lose a bit of weight, but really to get fitter than I am now Can you please tell me what I should be eating when I finish my workout. I know you're meant to eat, because your body needs the fuel but I'm not sure what that's all.

Thanks!

charlotte is on a distinguished road
Eat protein and carbs, no fats. Typically, you should also eat it as soon as you can -- within an hour or less.

My gym offers protein shakes. You might want to try one of those.

There is a recipe type thing for protien shakes on RWF, I tried looking for it but I can't find the search engine but it was on there somewhere....

Anyways I think it had protien powder, milk, fruit ect in it...I'm sure someone could tell you the link or recipe to it....but I did read somewhere that after a work out a protien shake is good for muscle development.

Though personally I hardly eat after doing something intense...never really feel hungry....does anyone else find that?

I drink Muscle Milk. You can buy a case of it at Costco and they don't need to be refrigerated so you can toss one in your gym bag and guzzle it down after your workout. It's also Lactose free for those of us that are lactose intolerant. Eating a cliff bar a good one too! Protein is the key!

morning meal

My b-fast normally consists of 2 yoplait light yogurt 2 pieces of citrus, 1 english muffin(yes and there is a little butter!!). This morning adding a 16oz
Pomagranite and green tea drink(only 35 calories). I am in my forties and have to watch my calorie intake(carbs and fats).
