Working out & feeling bigger!!

Hi
I need help! I have been doing pilates pretty consitstenly for about 10 months now. I have not lost any weight, and my clothes are fitting snugger. However, i do feel healther, stronger and look much toner. My butt has actually taken on a new shape, it seems rounder. My question is... Is this what is supposed to happen with pilates? Am I doing something wrong? I eat pretty good (im a vegetarian), and workout at least 3 days a week. Any advice?

Hi there

Are you doing any other forms of exercise, or just pilates?

If the answer is yes, you need to add some cardio into your weekly routine and also need to make sure you're eating about 500 calories less per day than you are burning off, this is how you lose weight.

Any questions just post em!

First, congratulations on being so consistant in your Pilates. And I'm sure you are much more toned and how wonderful is it that your back side is rounder!! And I agree with the previous post, you do need some cardio. The other thing I would recommend is to do a food journel. Write down everything you eat. You may be surprised. And even if you are eating well, at the very least, it will put you in touch at a deeper level with your nutrition.

The pilates works much like weight training in that you're really focused on muscle development/resistance. You're burning a little bit of fat, but you're not hitting the stages of fat buring that cardio is going to provide. Once you start incorporating 20 minute-40 minute cardio sessions, you'll really start seeing a difference in your body's ability to tap into the fat deposits.
