bicycle seat for girls

I'm in search of a way to reduce the pain and soreness when I ride my bike. I have been riding it alot more lately training for the triathlon and the weather has been great, but my girl region is so sore from the seat!
Which is better-
1. a more cushy seat
2. padded bike shorts
3. both
4. live with it- it is just part of the experciance- lol!

I always found that the slimmer seats were more comfortable, not the razor thin ones but one that I had on a touring bike, which may have been a compromise between the two styles. Padded bike shorts are a must, just be careful that the seams do not rub the thigh.

skinny seat with a hole in the middle but still fabric covered and mild cushioning is my preference. Padded shorts are a must regardless. Any bicycling specialty store can point you in the right direction.

I always had great results and ultimate comfort from a Brooks solid leather seat. They do models for all types of cycling, leisure, touring, mtb and road.
They seem hard to begin with but soon adapt to your individual shape and can past a lifetime if cared for properly.

It's the one downside I have with my exercise bike. It has a "extra wide padded seat for extra comfort". Usually by the time I finish my cardio hour I can't feel my arse. Walking funny for ages afterwards!

I know, they kill the butt, I've never understood the point to the extra wide padded seats on the exercise cycles...definitely not fun.

I've always assumed the discomfort comes from the fact that my behind is too large for it still. I figured that as I get smaller it will become more comfortable.

No, 'fraid it doesn't work that way; smaller butts find it very uncomfortable too, everything tends to go dead And they seem to rub the inside legs raw, if the shorts aren't long enough, either that or you have to cycle with legs splayed out just to avoid the rub...or sit right on the edge of the seat, which is definitely not comfortable, I've tried it.
