Hey I'm new and unfit!

Hey guys totally new here! I'm 19 a size 8-10 and want to tone up big time! I don't have a lot of money because I am a student so gym is out during the summer as I'm not in college so any ideas how to tone up all over body without looking built like a man?! I'm willing to work really hard for a great body so what's the best low cost way to getting a great body? Help would be greatly appreciated

Forgot to add... I am joining a womens rugby team this november.... so I want to build up stamina and be a winger rather than a forward... I have toned arms and am most concerned about my stomach and want to improve my tummy and love handle area the most! Thanks again

Wow...

Good for you for being so ambition!! Female rubgy rocks! lol...

I think the best training for you is going to be a combination of weights, cardio and plyometrics. You are going to have to work on both fast twitch and slow twitch muscle fibers since in rugby you not only run long distances but also need to be ready to sprint when necessary.

Maybe work out a schedule where you do weights and plyometrics one day and cardio the next- alternating days. I also bet if you look online you can find good programs to follow.
Good luck!

Is this the first time you've ever exercised?

No I have done circuit training for 5 years each summer but its not held anymore in the summer. I used to swim, play tennis badly, play hockey badly aswel, aerobics, tai chi, jog regularly, could run 3 miles last summer easily enough. I ride horses now only at the moment. I am a very active person but when I entered college last sept. none of my friends are sporty so I didn't really work out because I didn't want to do it on my own (being my first year you hang to your new mates for safety lol) so I just got into a lazy slump . Now I am lost about how to get fit again and need a schedule that will tone me up to the nice curvy but slim body I used to have! I know how to use weights correctly from school as well.

Buy those fitness magazines like SELF, Hers, Oxygen. I had millions of issues of these mags in college and the excersise tips are EFFECTIVE and they actually do get you the fit body if you do them on a regular basis. I too didn't have a lot of money to go to the gym, so I opted for fitness books like 101 Workouts for Women (Amazon) and they have plenty more.

I actually don't have them anymore since my college buddies stole them from me b/c they loved them so much. Sometimes the best way to a great body is not through expensive gym memberships or trainers. A little bit goes a LOOONG WAY. If you really need to stay dedicated, buy some work out video that focus on core training and yoga.
