Why didn't I think of that, that would be much easier...

(I would rep+ you but the system says I need to spread some reps around first, but many thanks for that)

I was going to do weights this evening, after swapping my routine around, but Thursday is just not 'weights day'; it really doesn't sit well...and I've just got back from college drained. Then again, I have done cardio today, with a twist:

This morning was apnea as usual, with the O2 table and three 2:00 minute final holds , aaargh, contractions, actually not that bad, but I need to increase the ventilation time a little to get more from the table, last hold was relatively easy because I allowed myself the 2 minutes recovery before going for the last hold....so I sat and wrote out a new table, a template, for filling in weekly and printing out...looks quite cool too! Unless there is any improvement this Saturday, I will alter the recovery times of the present tables and redo them next week again, and see what difference that makes, realising that I could also be approaching less incremental improvements in times now anyway...which will also be taken in to account, and therefore a 2-week/3-week period at a stable hold time will be good for the system, and may then allow for another increase.

College was interesting this afternoon, lectures too, I hasten to add , but I managed to complete 5 or 6 lengths of the corridor (definately 5 though), separately...as in one length then recover, then do the corridor again...god knows what students thought when they saw me walking up and down the corridor past their classes. No-one in the corridor until I reached the end door, so ne need for the production of a 'flash card' informing them to leave me to finish the walk.

So, all-in-all, I think I did enough cardio for the day, plus the cycle ride in windy conditions to and fro college.

It's good, but a killer when you have a rucksack full of study books, like 20 of them, I even had to ask the tutor to help me on with the rucksack twice, 'cos it was so awkward with being heavy, and I didn't want to risk pulling my shoulder when shifting it up from floor to on my back

This morning went well again, no real problems, I managed to reach 1:45 at the final tester hold, which I was extremely pleased with; so, even if I maintain the 2:00 minute O2 table hold next week, I may increase the CO2 table hold by a few seconds, maybe to 1:25 which is a 10 second increase, and see how that goes. I still have tomorrow to go for a max attempt, but feeling tired I can't be bothered to put my self through it, so I'll see how I feel tomorrow morning. I'm considering possibly setting the first freedive record for this area, when college is over, and that might get more people interested in it, since there's nothing people love more than to smash a record that has been set...besides it won't be an overly 'deep' dive, and should be reachable by most; but it's something to consider for the summer.

Apnea went well today, although it was done after lunch which may be why I did not reach a new max either, but I'm not exactly disappointed. So, that means that next week's O2 table will remain the same but with some alterations in the ventilation section, and the CO2 table will be increased by the 10 seconds...and I'll see how that works out next week.

No, it's okay, static does have two separate meanings so, yes, static in an apnea table as above means time holding breath It took me a little while to get used to the word ventilation for recovery breaths, since I only have start/stop on my tables which makes it easier than reading lots of non-relevant info, I just know when to start a hold and when I can breathe again, much simpler

However, static can also mean remaining motionless in the water or on dry land and holding breath at same time, dynamic apnea is where a person walks, swims, does weights, cycling etc holding the breath.

There are numerous disciplines within the sport, here's a link which might help with some of it, remembering the new record is over 17 minutes now:

Freediving - Disciplines

and this link might be better still:

Freedivers.co.uk - Freediving Disciplines

Okay, so after a really lousy diet of loads of junk food this past week, about a 1,000+ calories in cake alone, over two days...I managed to lose 1.5 lbs, maybe it was all the peanut butter sandwiches before bed that did it, but I know it wasn't the weight training, since I only did one session in the end, which is not good, I know, but I will have to eat more cake this week (j/k )if I'm going to do that and not lose more than 2lbs

It could easily have been down to the apnea training because of the dynamic apnea walks that I did at college in addition to the morning sessions, I'll see what happens next week, but try and make a dedicated effort to fit all my exercise sessions in...but at the moment there is a nasty cold going around, which may prevent it, due to the cold being a 'cough up your gold watch' type chest cold...and if I catch it, apnea etc will stop until I recover, but I can still do research on the topic if it comes to that.

This week started off badly, with a cluster headache keeping me out of the running all day yesterday; so absolutely no workouts and no apnea at all.

This morning, I managed to do the apnea session, and then the entire day was devoted to study, so no evening workout, hopefully tomorrow if things go better.

On a good note, I managed a new PB today of 3:00 , so that really cheered me up and spurred on my study session.
