note to self: throw phone out the window!
it's hard for me not to look at the caller id - didn't even pick up or hear it ring - but it's soooo tempting when I see it light up!...
my arms and back are freaking SORE today!!! You'd think I was in a tractor pull or something yesterday - wow. feeling glad for the 3 days before next workout!

Here's a cheer-you-up story about a phone, a true story: This proves how much we need to answer the telephone, no matter what the circumstances, which is why sometimes it's actually wiser to turn them off, or unplug them. One day the phone rang, and I rushed over all eager-like and picked it up, my brother was on the other end, and I stood this end like an idiot...I'd completely forgotten that I had lost my voice the day before and was unable to say anything as I stood holding the phone in my hand, frantically waving hubby over to the phone so that someone could speak to the person the other end

Day one of a three day cleanse.
We'll see if I last that long.
It's the first cleanse I've done in years and it's definitely time.
last night: salad, steamed chard, miso with chard liquid, detox teas, psyllium husk powder
today: a combination of all of these things numerous times as much as needed.. apple cider vinegar/water/honey drink, yerba mate tea, licorice root extract, carrot/celery/apple juice, miso broth, aloe juice, fennel tea, vit. C flax oil milk thistle suppl., barley grass, lots of water....and if I crack later - more steamed veggies
tomorrow and Sunday rinse and repeat ....
maybe a coffee enema later if there's time today - yes ladies that's exactly what it sounds like
Monday I reward myself with a day at the spa - soaking in tubs, saunas and IR rooms..then a massage...
my life is pretty good.
Monday night I'll start back gently with veggies and broths then oatmeal the next AM
then my intestines will be new and improved!

At the risk of jinxing myself: I think I've got an attainable plan to start sticking with a new home workout routine beginning tomorrow. If all goes well, I'll finally finish painting the kitchen cupboards today and that will help clear the way for better self care in the kitchen once I can get everything off the counters and table tops back out of sight.
I'll be prepping my swimming bag for easy access two mornings a week.
I'll be starting three mornings out of the week with rope skipping and weight lifting routine as close as possible to what I was doing in the gym all of last year and that seemed so effective at the time.
Maybe I'll have to get some music ready in my cd player to get me going.
We'll see if I can stay accountable and carry through.
week#1 of the rest of my life: here I come!
ps: I'm seriously fantasizing about getting a personal chef. I think I'll meet with someone in the next few weeks to see what the cost will be so that I can start budgeting for that.

week#1
so, I suppose I am using a short term goal - a weekend with friends in July, we're having an unofficial competition to shape up by then. That's about 9-10 weeks away.
I did manage to get my first workout of the week in today but later in the day than I'd planned. Since it felt so good, I've decided to turn my schedule on it's head and try working out in the later afternoons rather than what I'd been expecting myself to do first thing in the AM. It just wasn't happening.
Today was Abs and Low back and a 20 min. run. felt great to get the blood pumping again.
Friday 5/15
Chest
Upper back
20 min. run
my rope skipping is getting a little bit easier but I'm still super uncoordinated - it's fun! makes me laugh every time.
and boy am I feeling it today!!
Sunday 5/17
push lawn mowing 1 hr
dog walk 15 min
swim 20 min

week#2
I've lost track of what I did earlier in the week.
I decided to adjust my workouts to include more body parts since it seems i don't actually get around to working out on Wednesdays as I thought I could. So, Monday, Friday and Sunday it is.
Last Monday I did upper body work and apparently pushed a little too much as I had to nurse a spasm Wed and Thur. But recovery was fast thanks to a chilli pepper patch and Arnica.
Friday I skipped workout to be safe.
Sunday (yesterday) I ran / walked a mile in the AM with the dog and then swam 20 min. in the PM.
Today I've got to mow with the push mower and sink two more trellis posts, so that'll do me for today's activity expectations and if I get to legs and arms great, but we'll see...

ooof! My legs and arms are sore alright. Feels good. I did that leg workout just in time too as my period came on the very next day which is always less painful if I've worked the legs and hips.
Today my energy is pretty low. I'll be taking a post-brunch nap here soon. Brunch was a slice of russian rye with jelly and 2 scrambled eggs with avocado chunks and mushrooms, cheese and chicken, spinach, feta sausage. YUM!
today's workout will as most sundays do - consist of mowing the lawn, walking the dogs which I already did and a 20 min. swim later.
6/2/09
Sunday I did manage to go for a swim but mowing didn't happen until yesterday - after my chest/upper back and shoulder workout.
Feeling my pecs today and that's always nice to know I actually worked what I was intending to!
Besides being a muggy morning the dog walk was really pleasant and easy on my legs (less stiff and achey) which makes me feel like I'm getting stronger.
Might have to pull a late work night today, so once again probably not going to get around to a wed. workout but that's alright. there's always friday.

6/5
Abs, LB, calves and forearms
walked a pooch for 1/2 hour
back at the computer now
I do love workouts at home now. warmed up with skipping rope and running the stairs up and down today. so simple and effective.
I love that in between sets I can sing and dance and be silly
I love that I can go have my filtered water at any time and never run out during a workout.
and the view out of my workout window is the best....not to mention the fresh air...
