Default New here!

Hi Ladies

I'm new here but I'm not new to Internet forums!

However, I'm not sure that this is the right place for me, maybe some of you can tell me what most people around here are into . . .

I'm 31 years old, a SAHM to an almost 5 year old son and a 2 1/2 year old daughter. Next to my kids, exercise is my main priority in life . . . but I'm not into weight-lifting, I do lot of cardio and ab work . . . only the occasional calf raises and such. Are people around here more interested in discussing weight-lifting?

The elliptical is my workout of choice and I do it every single day for 45 minutes. . . the only exception is if I'm REALLY sick. I used to do a lot of weight-lifting in my early twenties but I really got too big for my own liking and then I met my husband and just didn't have the time to spend lifting anymore. But I continued with the cardio and I've been called a "cardio bunny" recently :P Although I think that's deragatory

I'm also a big fan of kickboxing/Tae Bo but I hardly ever do it b/c the classes at my gym are at an inconvenient time . . . I have a Billy Blanks DVD that I do on the rare occasion that I can't get on the elliptical :P These days, I'm looking for some different ab exercises b/c what I've been doing for the past few years just isn't doing anything for me anymore (imagine that!).

Hope to join in the discussions!

hi Callas! welcome! i think you're in the right place. i like to do both cardio and strength training. lately i've been doing more cardio since i don't have much time to hit the gym. i'm a single mom so there's not too much time for myself. i have an elliptical machine at home so it saves time on going anywhere. i found some ab workouts online called the Matthews Method. it's some good stuff! if you google it, you should be able to find it.

No we aren't only interested in weight lifting. One question, is your 45 minutes of cardio on the elliptical include you reading a magazine, like I see most women do? If so, you may not be working out at the proper intensity. Do you use the different levels of intensity and workout programs available on the machine. If you like low impact machines, the Stairstepper is also a viable option, and will tone up your lower body faster.
