Smile New Mom/Former Athlete Getting Back on Track!!!

Howdy, All

I am highly impressed with motivation and support everyone in this community seems to offer! I perused some various forums, and definitely felt strongly about this one.

I am a "new" mom - well, my son is 1 now - but have realized how hard it can be to take care of yourself when there are children (or a child) in your life. It's amazing how your world becomes ALL about them. In any case, I am ready to focus some more time and attention on my own health because, after all, am I really being the best mom I can be if I am not in the best shape/healthiest I can be?!?!

I am 30 years old, have ALWAYS been an athlete (until the past few years) and have a hard time staying motivated when it comes to working out on my own - as opposed to working out with my former soccer teammates, etc. I am 5'6"...and about 200 lbs...however, I have always been told I don't look as heavy as I weigh. In other words, I am actually not chubby all over - mainly in the legs and butt areas. I'd love to tone and strengthen all over my body though. And, having had my first baby, I have a belly for the first time in my life. I have lots of work to do!!! I'd love to be back down to a size 8 or 10 (I'm about a 16 right now)...and am less concerned with "numbers on the scale", but was happy around 150, in college.

I will try to document my progress, and I look forward to people's feedback, tips, and help! I love walking, hiking, yoga, weight lifting, biking, etc. If anyone has and tips about those types of exercise, or any others, please chime in!

All the best to everyone!!!

hey, welcome!
you should think about starting a journal on the forum to keep you accountable - if that sort of thing helps you and it can serve as some motivation to others too. I'm sure you'll get some feedback on that as you go as well.

Question

Thanks for the kind words I am so new to these forum type things. How would I start a "journal"? Just like these threads, and call it a journal? Or is there actually a different format/place for "journals" on here? Sorry to sound so clueless...

then just click where it says "start new thread" and each time you post news about your workouts / different day or whatever just post a "reply" to yourself or you can go back and edit a previous post if you want to add on....

Nice. Thanks! I figured it was probably this sort of manual type thing...but wasn't sure if I was missing another piece of the puzzle. Thanks for your help!
