can I reshape my legs?

I have never had very shapely legs, so I suppose that is mostly genetic, but I would love to have some definition to my calves and also the area right above my knees, quite a bit of sagging going on there! I do have a problem with my knees though, so squats are a little difficult and lunges are definitely out. Any ideas? Thank you.

Have you tried doing squats using the Smith machine in the gym? I have a problem with one knee and that combined with awful balance made free squats impossible. The Smith machine allows you to put your feet forward so that you squat to a right angle but you can also lean back into the bar (because it's on a track). This is also similar to using a gym ball at your back and moving it up and down a wall. These are both ok for me. Try googling squats and there will be examples.

Yes it is possible to reshape legs, and muscles in general; I just watched a program about a guy that intends crossing the north/south (??) pole area, and he has a massive muscular build so they are getting him to do loads of cardio, like 8 hours a day, mostly because they need to reshape his muscle structure in a short time ready for the task. But, that proves these things can be done.

If you want shapely calves and thighs, there is nothing better than an aerobic stepper, since it uses all those areas...basically just get yourself a step, and start walking, up/down up/down * 10 swap lead leg, continue *10 swap lead leg...do 45 minutes every day, if you're up to it, and I guarantee you'll see improvements in 8 weeks max.

Nothing wrong with a bit of weight training either, just depends what area you want to focus on most at present.
