Default workout routine help

i need some guidance for my workout routine on daily basis.

i go to gym regularly. also i am pretty active as well.
4 days a week gym. sometimes i commute on cycle to work (32 mile round trip)
so i skip gym on those days.
weekends i try to play tennis or hiking.
(this is just to give my activity level)

what should be my workout routine. currently i only work out one muscle group at a time with 40 minutes of cardio? is this good or i should do whole body workout. one more thing, i have little bit waist and have some fat around stomach area that i want to loose. my hands and legs are in good shape.

can any one please give me guidance ?

I think what you do is already good. For your abs, try to do abs exercise everytime you go the gym besides one muscle train at a time. Besides exercise, try to reduce hi-fat and hi-calories from your food list. Add fruits, vegetables and fiber instead. That works for me !

The first time I came on this site I found an article about weight training. I have been training off and on for two years. I have 3 kids and 3 step kids so it doesn't always work out that I get to workout. Anyway, the administrator gave a link to another site that offers free workouts as well. It is more geared toward women, but I found one specifically for women. Doug lays out an exact (easy to follow) routine. Go to this site. Click on Fat Loss and Toning, then The Super Toning Training Routine. I have been doing it for the last three weeks and I can really see a difference. I added some stuff to mine, but it is a great workout. I repeat the cardio so that it's at least 30 minutes long. Sometimes I do it just once in the morning before I start getting ready for work.

I hope you enjoy and benefit from the site, I know I have!

Thanks a lot for your site. (DeeDee) i will definitely try this routine and see how that works.

about the food, i am vegetarian. and i try to eat pretty healthy food. for my dinner i only eat fruits and fruits juice most of the time. ( sometimes i do cheat and eat anything.)
