Burning feeling the day after!

Hey all!

If you are hurting to the extreme the day after a workout. Does it mean you actually had a good workout? Now, what if you don't hurt the day after. Does that mean you didn't have a good workout the day before?

Bottom line, do you have to always hurt and burn the day after to know whether or not you worked out hard enough?

Thanks!

Dee

No you don't need to have DOMS the following day to have had a good workout. It is normal to have DOMS for the few times you do a particular set of exercises but your body adapts fairly quickly and will no longer get as sore and sometimes no soreness depending on how experience and regularly your lifting. Depending on your goals and rep ranges you should only be able to complete your chosen number of reps in a set.

EG. Most people would agree that I push hard and have a very intense training routine (National Benchpress Champion) yet I only usually suffer badly from DOMS when I change the way I target each muscle and only for a couple of weeks worth of training.
