Getting rid of abs!

What's the best way? I've been doing crunches FOREVER and it seems like this roll on the middle of my tummy won't go away.

Does anybody out there have a sixpack, or at least a fourpack?!

Hey Sara,
I had the same problem few months ago. Usually i do crunches at the gym, but then I try to do my abs workout EVERYDAY at home. It works ! I also have '6 little meal a day' diet. Eat always in small portions of high protein and fiber. Hope this will help you, good luck !

Breakfast :1/2 glass of honey first in the morning, a very small portion of rice & meat (this is the primary meal in my country), a glass of low fat milk.

At 10 am I have a slice of whole wheat bread with cholesterol-free spread.

Lunch : small portion of rice & meat + vegetables, a portion of fruits (mostly apple)

At 4-5 pm I have another slice of whole wheat bread

Dinner : very small portion of rice & meat + bigger portion of vegetables , another portion of fruits.

Sometimes I allow myself to have 'heavier snack' like chocolate (my favourite!), biscuits or pudding, but only 2-3 times a week.

I don't eat eggs because of my allergic. Maybe this also helps !

What about your diet ?

I can't say that I've ever had a problem with my abs (knock on wood) but I have had times where they looks better than others. I would definitely keep doing the crunches, but doing them on a yoga ball targets more of the lower four than the upper four. I also use a medicine ball when I work on my abs. That seems to take away even that little bit of fat on the sides.

Abs are the hardest to get! Especially when your talking six-pack. I have a four pack now and am working on getting the six I had at the beginning of last summer. I am thirty years old with two children so my body isn't perfect and it took a while to get muscle definition in the abdominal area!

I do leg raises (roman chair), incline crunches, reverse crunches, hanging leg raises, prone bridges, and squats....yes squats for abs. Its amazing how much you use your core for squats. As far as diet I just try to go low on carbs and sweets (my weakness). OH and don't forget to work the obliques ;-)

Good luck with the abs!

Crunches will strengthen the abs muscle area, but they cannot help get rid of the fat that lays across the abs, which is what is preventing the abs from being seen. You need to incorporate cardio into your routine on a regular basis to encourage the body to burn fat for fuel. Weight training programmes will also help in this area because muscle burns more calories than fat even when it is at rest. But cardio is the best for fat burn, and this will lead to the stomach fat also diminishing, so you'll be able to see those abs...never neglect cardio, and don't get caught up doing loads of abs exercises on a daily basis...it's best to do them every other day, because the muscle needs to recover and grow on its rest days. I do very little abs work but when the bodyfat is lower I can see my abs, so my weight training and cardio routine work brilliantly to burn the excess fat off the entire body. If I neglect to exercise then I gain more bodyfat...especially if I keep eating like a maniac, which I normally do 'cos I like food.

It's exactly as 5kg said. There are so many people who believe that the crunch is the way to six packs, but it just isn't so. Mix up the workouts to burn bodyfat, and you should see results.

"1/2 glass of honey first in the morning" OMG I would be so hyper fr the rest of the day or sick from all the natural sugar!!

I was reading about abs and that just doing cruches won't give you that 6pk asap you have to eat too and like Wolfldy said you hvae to mix it us so that your bodyresponds and uses whatit needs too.
