Unhappy Weight Training for Building Strength

I need to be able to life 180 lbs. for a job. The machine I have to life is on an incline and we are lifting from the floor to waist level. Most of the lifting is done with your legs.

What are some good exercises I can do to improve my leg strength and also what machines at the gym do you suggest I use? How often should I workout?

Please help. I would really like this job.

Thankyou,

Blaine

It's important to know how much you can benchpress as of this moment.

The single and best way to increase your leg strength is by doing squats. They will get you strong legs in no time at all. Other exercises to strengthen your legs include:

- Lunges
- Leg curl (hamstrings)
- Leg press (quads)

A good workout would go something like this:

Squats: 3 sets of 12
Lunges: 3 sets of 12
Leg extension: 3 sets of 15
Leg curl: 3 sets of 15

That can be done 1-3 times a week.

Any more questions just ask

Thanks for the tips RWF. I will definitly be working on those exercises at the gym.

And in reply to Slysara's question. It's a job working as an EMT on an ambulance. This test is the last hurdle I have to overcome.

Wish me luck guys. And I am open to any and all suggestions always.

Just curious, what's the 180 pounds? It's not a human/stretcher, right? That's what I assumed automatically, but 180 pounds would seem a little light.
