New and In Need Of Some Guidance
Hi,
I am new to the site, I am a 25 year old female,5'2", and I currently weight 214 lbs. About 3 years ago or so I weighed 324 lbs, by drastically cutting my food intake, cutting out all sweets and bad foods, and not really excercising I dropped down to 175. About a year ago I started the ABS Diet, to maintain a healthier way of eating, and since then have gained weight to my current 214. All thoughout I have been exercising. I have been on the TNT diet for about 4 months now, and I am trainging using the New Rules of Lifting For women. I am currently on Stage 3, and I feel as though it is not woring for me. It is suggested that I eat 2020 cals. per day to lose 2 lbs. per week, I keep a journal of my food, where I am either dead on the mark or about 30 cals. short each day. If anyone has any ideas or tips to help me past this rut I would really appreciate it. My macro ratios are 55/30/15, fats/protein/carbs. I am really trying get down at least 50 lbs. and I am really struggling. Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

Hey Megan, welcome to RWF!
I'm curious about these 'diets' you're on, what does TNT and ABS stand for?
Are you really having 55/30/15 fats, protein and carbs? Is that 55 fats and only 15 carbs?
What sort of things do they teach you in the "New Rules of Lifting for Women?"
Sorry about all the questions, but I have never heard of these and am curious. If we know more about them we will be able to help you more.
BTW, congrats on the initial weight loss. Losing fat is hard work and it takes a lot of courage to discuss it. Trying to lose weight is a very personal matter, and it can be quite controlling of your life. But once you adjust healthier changes into a lifestyle instead of governing yourself with "rules" and "diets", you'll be far better off.

Hi Megan
Welcome to the forum.
Congrats on the weight loss so far, that's trememdous. I presume the ABS diet is a plan that is tartgeted at the abdominals...as in uses Abs for the title of the diet plan. I also, like Wolfy, have never heard of TNT either. The 55 fats/ 30 proteins/ 15 carbs sounds very odd...I would have thought it would be more along the lines of 55 carbs/ 30 protein/ 15 fats etc. Because you are following the New Rules of Lifting for Women, that indicates that you are doing a fair amount of good training...so, either the calorie intake is a little too high at present, or you are gaining muscle so the scales are not registering that. Don't forget, as we gain muscle it shows as an increase/or steadying of our weight...see my journal, and it will demonstrate what I mean by this.
Options are, to lower the calories, to reassess the exercise, and to get a bodyfat reading done...Are you currently doing any cardio along with the weight training, as I haven't seen the book that you're discussing, but do know that it is a weight training based book.
You may also want to readjust the macro ratios, so that fats do not take such a percentage of your calorie intake up.

I hope this forum helps to give you support and keep you on track for your goals. Look forward to more postings from you.
(I also am curious as to the answers to some of the questions Wolflady already asked)

Thank you all for your feedback so far. The TNT diet that I was speaking of is a low carb, high fat and moderate protien diet. The New Rules of Lifting is a weight lifting program designed to strengthen and tone, as well as working on your core. I am trying to combine the the two for optimal weight loss, below I will list my daily food log.
Breakfast- 2 eggs scrambled with 1/4 cup of spinach, a slice of cheese, and 3 sausages
Morning snack- 2 tbsp. all natural unsalted peanut butter, 1 oz. of block cheese.
Lunch- 6oz. skinless chicken, 2 cups green beans, 1 tbsp. flax seed.
Preworkout- 1 cup nonfat yogurt, 2 oz. deli turkey
Postworkout- 1 small green apple, 2oz. deli turkey
Dinner- 6 oz. skinless chicken, 2 cups steamed broccoli, 1tbsp. flax seed.
evening snack- 2 tbsp. all natural unsalted peanut butter.
I also drink between 64-72 oz. of water per day. I take a multi in the morning, a total of 4 fish pills per day, and 2 green tea pills with lunch. Some days I do have coffee with half ad half and splenda, but that isnt everyday.

hmm.. Sorry to say, but the idea of having more fats than carbs in my diet kind of turns my stomach. LOL
Something that works for me is having a 50/40/10 (carb, protein, fat) ratio. I do a lot of lifting and cardio throughout the week. But like I said, this works for me and it's taken me a while to balance myself and see what works. Everyone is different.

I love that you're taking fish oil. That's very smart. It worries me a little bit to see very little vegetable/legume matter though.
Are you feeling like this is working for you? It's an unusual fat/protein/carb ratio - is it supposed to be Atkin's -esque?
you know why Atkin's works? it puts the kidneys into crisis mode which causes tissue wasting - that's where the weight loss comes from.

Thank you. fish oil is great for your heart! Like I sadi I also take green tea suplement because it boosts your metabolism. As for the vegetables, I eat them at breakfast lunch , and dinner, lunch and dinner being multiple servings. I dont think its supposed to be like atkins really, because atkins is low carb and low fat to bring your body to ketosis, where the TNT diet doent bring your body to ketosis. Instead it drains your glycogen stores so you burn fat for energy instead. Thus this diet is supposed to burn fat with no tissue loss.

No I havent. I plan on taking my meassurements and gageing my progress from that because I have a real fear of scales. I acutally get anxiety attacks when I weigh myself. In the end, my goal is to be slimmer, and down to a reasonable size, the weight doent matter to me so much as the size of my body does.
