Lightbulb What should a woman weigh...

This is purely informative for women who think they weigh too much, or feel they should be at a certain weight, and not for discussion. This calcualtion is based on non-muscular women, so those doing weight training will weigh more, but this is the guideline base weight for ordinary women that are not overly muscular, and is a means with which to work out more or less what a female should weigh in accordance with their height.

Information taken from 'No more mr fat guy' by Savill, J. & Smedley, R. pg.33

"For women, the calculation is based on a weight of 100 pounds for the first five feet, adding 5 pounds per inch after that height."

So, since I am around 5' 3" I should weigh around 115 lbs, which sounds reasonable, since I feel comfortable at 119 lbs, that's without loads of muscle obviously. But, I once met a woman who was almost 5' 9" and she wanted to get to 8 stone (112 lbs), which is, as you can see by the above, way too low a figure for her height...and should have been around 100+ (9" * 5) = 145 lbs, without being muscular.

I hope this helps others work out a base line, without getting hung up on figures that are too low.
