Weight loss not muscle gain

I'm getting married at the end of January and would like to lose a few pounds and tone up a little. I've been working out 4 days a week; with 30 minutes of cardio followed with weights and then abs. Everyother day I do arms and legs. It's been a little over 2 months now and I haven't lost any weight and I've noticed that a few pairs of jeans that used to fit me are now very snug on my thighs.

I'm worried that I'm gaining too much muscle! I'm not against muscle but I'd really like to lose a good 10 pounds (+ or -) before I start building muscle.

Any suggestions on how I can lose around 10 pounds without building too much muscle?

Suggestions please!?!?!

The first thing I would say is why don't you swap things arround.....

So do two days of just cardio and abs
and two days of weights and then do a bit of cardio afterwards
(I wouldn't do as much as 40min maybe more like 20-30 but thats up to you)

If you feel your legs are bulking to much, reduce the weight you are using for your leg excercises.
I tend to just work the sides and the backs of my legs only for the same reason, the quads (front of thighs) are a big muscle if you work them to much they will bulk up your legs.

What does your diet look like? You can exercise all you want, but if you're eating the wrong things, it won't necessarily help you.

I try to eat a low carb, zero sugar diet. I have a protein mix that is zero carbs, zero sugar that I mix with fat free milk once a day. I eat veggies, fruits and lots of chicken and fish. I also take a multi-vitamin daily.

I feel like I'm on the right track - just not seeing the results I'm looking for.

Hello

In my experience there is no single diet that works for everyone, some people thrive on low carb, others can eat pasta all day and still have abs. You need to find something that works for you and that may be more of a moderate carb diet. It comes down to your genetic desposition and body type ie, Endo/Ecto/Mesamorph etc.

Also, another thing to consider, are you eating too much fruit? It can be quite counterproductive if your consuming too much. You could be having the same amount of sugar as a couple of cans of coke without realising (if thats the case)

Hope this helps

True, every body is different and this is why diets and exercises also have different results. A friend of mine had a similar problem and went to a nutritionist. I'd do the same as I don't think your work out is the problem but rather your diet!
