Question Weight loss exercise without using legs?

I have really been trying to lose weight. I started the "Jenny Craig" program to modify my diet, cut out sodas and alcohol, increased water intake, even stopped the coffee, and tried to start an exercise program. The problem is that all the exercise programs I have found for burning fat require lunges, squats, skipping, jumping, etc. that really stress the knees. My knees are in very bad condition. Even walking over distance causes swelling and pain. Doc wants to do TKR on both legs but I am trying to put it off. What fat-burning exercises are there that do not require weight bearing exercises with the legs?

To tell you the truth there arent any really. I would suggest you do cardi, a light walk on the treadmill, and do some core exercises. Core exercises are really great, you can do side bends, back extensions, flexions, etc.

One piece of equipment at my gym is a "bike" for your arms. I can't remember the proper name for it, but basically you sit on a chair and use your arms to "cycle". Next time I'm there I'll ask if they'll let me take a picture of it and I'll post it up. I've seen it used by many people who suffer lower joint pain and one guy (who is built like a bodybuilder! wow!) who is actually paralyzed and in a wheelchair. He's on it quite a bit.

Weight loss supplements and weight loss programs are designed and retailed on a daily basis to help those who need to lose that weight. Researchers world wide have developed weight loss patches, supplements and pills to help the over weight individual.

You are going to have to change the way you eat and exercise more. There is no way around it; if you are wanting to loss the weight, burn the fat, develop those ever so appealing six packs, then you must change the calorie intake as well as the calorie usage, after wards go for exercise.

Losing weight has become an important issue for a number of people. You can know whether you are obese or over weight by calculating your body mass, This is one of the scales that are used by the doctors to calculate whether you are obese or not. People who are obese find it difficult to do the exercises regularly. With the help of the weight loss exercises you can reduce your weight,You can take the help of the weight loss programs to maintain a balance between your diet and your weight loss exercise.
You can do the mild aerobic exercises in the beginning so as to not over strain your self. With time you can start doing the heavier and the difficult exercises for weight loss. Bending the body and shrinking the muscles of the abdomen is an easy way of burning the abdominal fat.

have you tried swimming and not using your legs? you have to be careful depending on how bad they are but when I hurt my knee I could still swim with just my arms to get my heart rate up and burn some calories.

Nobody's perfectly clear on exactly why but while swimming generally has been found to be good for increasing cardiovascular fitness, it seems to do very little for fat loss. Some theories say that it's because of the cooling effect to our body of water temperature...

really? Thats interesting. I used to swim for my school club and when I was training my body fat was always much less that in the breaks. Maybe it was the increased muscle mass from swimming and I was burning fat through the day? Ah wells, I still love it. Do you know if there are studies being done on it? I'm really interested now, Is it a similar theory to doing yoga in a really hot room?

yeah, I dunno if it's currently being studied. It does seem that body fat should be affected eventually. Let me know if you happen upon some more info....
