5 Minute Women's Abs Workout

Too busy to do a full abs workout? If so, trythis five minute abs workout. It isharder thenit looks!
Five Minute Women’s Abs Workout
You would be surprised how often I do a full session of abs training in only five minutes. Sometimes I find that I am too busy working other muscles that by the time I come to my abs I am too tired.
As a result I decided to create some short workouts that I could do in five minutes before breakfast. And, to my surprise, I got some results.
Principles of Five Minute Abs Training
If you want to work out your abs in five minutes and do it so that they make progress and grow then you need a few key elements:
- You need a high pain tolerance as the workouts hurt!
- You need to increase the intensity such that five minutes seems like 20.
- You need to learn to focus ONLY your abs muscles and not resort to the ‘cheat’ muscles like the hip flexors and legs.
- You need PERFECT technique throughout the whole workout.
If you can get these things together than a five minute abs workout might be all you need.
Five Minute Abs - Yeah Right!
Now, I am aware that five minute abs sounds like a late night television commercial where I try to sell you a crap gadget that doesn’t work in 30 minutes, let alone five!
However, I will be the first to admit that working your abs out in five minutes isn’t for everyone. Some people like to take it really slow, have big rest inbetween each set and those people probably won’t like this.
But, sometimes all you have is five minutes and for those times these five minute abs workouts are great. That is what this post is about.

The Five Minute Workout
So, hereis the quick abs workoutI have used on occasion.
Like any muscle, don’t workout two days in a row and give the abs plenty of rest. Eat plenty of protein and watch your calories because we all know how a layer of fat will make the best abs turn bad!
The Abs Workout
- Perform a brief warm up.
- Take a five or ten kilogram weight and place in on your chest and perform a set of crunches to failure. Take the weight off of your chest and perform another set to failure. These repetitions should be slightly faster than normal.
- Perform this sequence for three minutes taking only very very small breaks.
- The last minute of the five should be spent doing crunches as fast as you can without sacrificing your technique.
- Warm down.
And that’s it! Try it and let me know how it goes. Does anyone else have short abs workouts we can try?

Make sure you let me know how the workout goes and don't stick to the same one for too long - you gotta keep mixing it up.

I like snack foods ALOT is there a substitute food that i can use instead?

Orville Redenbacker(sp?) has some new health popcorns out there these days. Also, since I like to snack too, I usually get dried fruits and nuts (AKA trail mix) and snack a bunch throughout the day. It doesn't quite beat pizza or those big unhealthy fried foods, but it works.
Skipping meals will actually make you retain more weight... because it makes your body go kind of into hibernation mode and store all fats. I wouldn't say that cutting down would be a good idea, but remember that your meat or main food product should be the size or your fist, and no bigger. That's my problem - portions. Ugh.
Anyhow... about the trail mix, it's good to veg out in front of the tv with. Just don't eat an entire bag (unless you put some in little snack baggies that are portion controlled.) |

| loza said: | wow!! i really hope that it would work . i have been tryin everything!! i really want those abs for the summer |
| Kris said: | I can see it working after only 4 days but how long does it normally take to go from a little belly to a flat belly |
| Wicked said: | I'm going to try this but I have a very very hard time with motivation. I really want my abs to be in tip top shape. |
| Eva said: | this looks good i am gonna try it, I really need to loose my pp weight. hopefully this works. Now all i have to do is stay committed & also try to have workout time & me time. |
| Shelly said: | i like to do the side reach crunches, bicycle crunches and reverse crunches also... usually i do it before a run or ride etc. |
| Gertrude said: | ive always been between a size zero or two. but my dream is to have abs or at least a flat stomach. yes, i gladly admit i have a potbelly :( i have tried all the workouts out there (you name it) and even got a personal trainer. after six months of working out six days a week and with a sensible diet and nutrition plan, my tummy still isnt flat. any other remedies? |
| Rayyyy :] said: | Mkay. I kinda have like, a little pouch in my stomach that I really want to get rid of... problem is, I love food. Haha. I want flat abs by the summer because, although my pouch isn't bad, all of my friends have perfectly flat abs (to the point where they could be models). Will this work for me to help get rid of that little bit of fat? |
| Kimmy said: | So like 2 years ago I was as skinny as could be, and i have gained alot of wieght to the point where people say Im prego... I may have a pooch, but I dont have a prego belly. I honestly do not have the time to go through an hour workout. I hope this works. Next week I'll post and tell ya. :) |
| c said: | its important to remember that your pouch may be a bit genetic, you may have rock hard muscle underneath but may always have trouble actually loosing that flap, i had that issue for a long time |
| want abbs! said: | how is the weight supposed to stay on ur chest while doing the cruches? wont it fall? |
| miss J said: | douse this help with you lub handles cause i have tried evrything frome dieting
and working out and i just cant seem to get it . |
| Deangela said: | The only way to get a flat stomach with amazing abs is to WORK OUT AND EAT RIGHT. All the crunches in the world will not shave off the fat on top of your muscles. Your muscles may get stronger but the fat needs to be BURNED by you either running, walking, jogging, and doing a mixture of Cardio and strength training. There are no shortcuts and you CANNOT target only one area of your body...it doesn't work. |
| arjhay said: | i think placing some 5 to 10 kg on your chest is dangerous to the spinal column since you need more strength to lift that heavy weight from the chest, doing crunches having nothing on the chest will help as long as you are consistent, you can do 5 crunches and next day increase it for another 5.. |
