As I have said in the past, having toned triceps can make the rest of your arm look really good. Women who suffer from the ‘tuck shop lady’ wobble arms should read this series and learn how to train your triceps for perfectly toned women’s arms. I will write a series of posts on all the essentials that one needs to know in order to build perfect triceps.
It is really important to remember that when you are trying to achieve a toned body you must think weight loss as opposed to muscle gain. As we all know, it doesn’t matter how big and strong your muscles are, if there is a layer of fat over the top of them they will never look good.
Likewise, if you are trying to tone your arms you cannot just do arms exercises and wait for the muscle definition to start showing through. We all know that you cannot ’spot reduce’ meaning that you cannot lose fat from just one area of your body at a time.
So, if you want to get toned anything (arms, butt, legs, etc.) you need to take a total approach to your training and lose fat off of your entire body. It is only when your fat levels are low enough that your muscle shape and definition will start to show through.
However, it doesn’t take much weight loss to start showing some muscle tone. And, once you get there you want to have some muscle to show off so it is important to add weight training into your weight loss program. Having good tricep muscles will shape your arm and make it look leaner and much more sexy.

The tricep muscles run along the back of the arm from the shoulder to the elbow. They are used in all motions where you have to push something away from your body using your arms. So, a push up or a bench press will use your triceps as the balancing muscle that assists the pectoral (chest) muscles.
In order to train the triceps effectively we need to use a mix of heavy compound exercises that use both the triceps and the chest as well as isolation exercises that focus exclusively on the motion that the tricep performs.
As with all fitness exercises in order to get better at it we must progressively add more resistance. It is only by doing this that the muscles respond and grow.
So, if you want to tone your triceps you need to make sure that you are adding some sort of intensity to your workout each time by either adding more weight, more reps, or performing the exercise slower or faster, etc. All these things will keep your muscles guessing and force them to grow so that they adapt to the situation.
In order to lose weight or gain muscle you need to increase the amount of protein that goes into your diet. Protein is essential in building muscles.
Especially critical is the post workout protein meal that should be taken as soon as you finish your workout or even before you finish. This meal should be in liquid form for fast absorbtion and should consist of high protein foods like whey protein, eggs, milk, etc.
