Fitness Ball Exercises

Does the site of the fitness ball make you cringe? Or, do you just walk past them at the gym because you see them sitting around all the time and no longer notice them? Well, maybe you should notice them!

Fitness Ball Advantages
Doing certain exercises on the fitness ball has some important advantages. In particular, training the abs on a fitness ball will boost your progress significantly.

So, why is using a fitness ball so good?

It increases your Range of Motion
When you use a fitness ball, because of the round shape, you will find that you stretch further and thus increase the distance the muscle you are training has to move.

Think about a sit up. A sit up on the floor only allows you to go as low as the floor. On a fitness ball, however, you can bend all the way back to well below horizontal.

It increases the stretch
Because you increase your ROM you can stretch the muscle further. The deeper the stretch when working out a muscle usually the better. It makes working out a lot harder and muscle a lot sorer.

You have to balance
When you use the ball you have to balance as you can tip towards many angles. This forces other muscles to come into play that wouldn’t do anything if you were stuck on the floor.
