Top 10 Women's Fitness Workout Ideas

Women’s fitness ideas sometimes are few and far between. I know many women who skip a workout because they are too bored with the same old jog and struggle to think of something new to do. Here are the top 10 women’s fitness workout ideas that I have come up with in the past.

10 - Group sport

Some of my best memories are playing a game of soccer in the park with my friends using two hats as goals and keeping it very informal. If you have a group of like minded fitness friends then make a regular time to meet at the park and do some sort of women’s fitness workout.

9 - Swimming

It is above 30 degrees celcius here today in Australia again and I can’t seem to get my mind away from the pool! If it is hot and you feel like you should do something healthy then go for a swim. A relaxing way to do something towards getting real women’s fitness.

8 - Skipping

I love skipping (rope jumping) because it makes me feel like an old school boxer. Also, a 10 minute skipping session is probably worth about 30 minutes of jogging which makes women’s fitness less time consuming.

7 - Hiking

An all day hike is something that I have done a few times this year and found it really refreshing. We go up to a waterfall with some lunch and a lot of water and spend the day hiking around the mountains, swimming in the lakes and relaxing. It is very good for your legs.

6 - 100’s

This is something that I invented in high school when I needed a target to measure my progress and wanted to boost my overall fitness. Take any exercise you can think of and do 100 repetitions. Then, think of another exercise and do another 100 repetitions.

For example, I used to do 20 minute workouts of:

By the end of it you are bloody tired! If you can’t make it all the way to 100 then stop and rest for no longer than 10 seconds at a time until you finish all 100. These will really test your fitness.

5 - Variations of one exercise

Again, I used to do this a lot in high school when I couldn’t afford any gym equipment or a gym memmbership. The idea is to take one exercise and do it in all different ways for a whole workout. For example, I used to do pushups for 30 minutes and see if I could get to 1000 repetitions. Sometimes I would use a normal width pushup, sometimes a wide one, narrow one, elevated one… keep changing positions until you have exhausted them all.

4 - Hill Sprints

I know I talk about this a lot but it is the fastest way to get real women’s fitness. Hill sprints work your whole body and really test your fitness levels. Two or three sessions of these a week is worth double that amount of jogging.

3 - Circuits

Likewise, the circuit is talked about lots here at Real Women’s Fitness but I really love them. Take one exercise for each muscle group and perform them one after the other with no breaks inbetween and then work your way back down to the start. My favourite exercises for a good circuit are:

2 - Boxing

Boxing classes are one of the best ways to get fast and very real women’s fitness. It is full body, very high impact and will really test your metal. I highly advise everyone to sign up for a women’s boxing class soon!

1 - Wind Sprints

This is a great way to boost your fitness and change your style of running. From now on, instead of running at one pace for the entire time, change the pace by breaking into a sprint for as long as you can and then slowing back down to your normal running pace. I used this technique every soccer season to get match fit and it always worked well.
