Music can be a great tool if you are lacking energy or drive to go to the gym. The beat and the melody can get you pumped and excited about moving. Some of my best memories are of running along a street at 5am in the morning listening to some loud Hip Hop on my headphones.
UPDATE - CHECK OUT OUR WEEKLY WORKOUT SONGS WITH PETA
Top 10 Workout Songs List
I have been wanting to compile a list of the top 10 best songs to work out to. I wanted to find the most upbeat, poweful, emotional songs around. They could be old classical songs or hip hop or rock… anything that gets people moving.
Generally I have noticed that songs with a heavy and infectious base line are the best for work out to as you subconciously try to match your pace to the beat.
Anyway, here are my Top 10 Songs to workout to! Feel free to post your own Top 10 for everyone else to see. Let’s make a huge list!
As you can see I am very much influenced by Hip Hop!
What are your favourites?

| D2460 said: | Eye of the tiger phhhht? What kind of trailer trash turns there nose up to "Eye of the Tiger"? Either A) You are a woman or B)you don't have an IDEA about what good music is you just were around your friends when this "cool" music was playing some time ago when the hip hop industry was actually alive and thriving that you conditioned yourself to think tyhat alot of this crap music now a days his actual music. Hip Hop DIED years ago with Tupac and Biggie. Don't promote music that perpetuates the objectification of the vulnerabilities of women and the degredation of our society. If you stop listening to this crap music then they will stop making it!!! How about that!!! |
| RT said: | I agree. Eye of the Tiger ROCKS! |
| Shan said: | What about Midnight Star??!! You know! No parkin' on the dance floor, The midas touch, Operator. How about some Roger and Zapp, too. |
| cl said: | I've found that when I listen to the band Gogol Bordello, my energy level rises. Despite the fact that half of their songs are in Russian (which I cannot understand), the music makes me just want to shake my ass. |
| Lucky said: | This one's for D2460, surely you know that "good" music is subjective. What's considered to define "good music" to one woman may be pure garbage to another. If you really believe that rap music is dead, then obviusly you haven't checked the charts (for YEARS!) You no doubt wouldn't know which demographic leads the way with hip-hop music sales. Might I gently suggest you go to www.billboard.com to see for yourself.Do I advocate the glorification of violent/demeaning performers? Heck no! There are hip-hoppers out there who make music with fantastic beats (so they're great to use in a workout routine) uplifting lyrics and great music, but it's artists like these who barely get airplay...gee, I wonder why. Bottom line, if you don't like hip-hop music, you're free not to listen. The earth won't spin out of contol if you don't! |
| NormaK said: | My absolute favorite song for a long climb in my spin class is Dream On by Aerosmith. The long version. |
