Treadmill vs Outdoors for Fitness

Do you spend hours on the treadmill? Or, hour running in the park? Would you ever dream of changing over? Maybe you should…

Treadmill vs Outdoors
I have long been a fan of participating in debates over whether it is better to train in a gym, or better to train at home or in the park.

Now, this debate only applies to fitness and cardio type exercise because there is no doubt whatsoever that doing weights in a gym is better. There is simply far to much bodybuilding equipment in the gym to be able to replicate the envionment at home.

Here are some of the pro’s and con’s of cardio done outside and cardio done inside.

Conclusion
Overall, I would always opt for running outdoors than in the gym. It may be because I like pretending I am a professional boxer doing his pre-fight roadwork. However, sometimes it is more practical to run on the treadmill.

Does anyone have any other thoughts on the matter?

Rt said:That is a great idea! Some of my best fitness memories were training kung fu out in my back yard under a big shady tree. Thanks for the comment.
FitFiend said:Running on a treadmill indoors can be a bit monotonous. I like running outside, weather permitting, because it doesn't get as boring. Agree with Swan, above, that mapmyrun.com is a great way to record your distance.
Reynaldo Castillo said:I always think it is better 100% outdoors where there's no smelly people no viruses frompeople who has severe illnesses that could be contagious and the traffic of people for use the machines to do their sets of work out. Also if you don't have too much time to do it and there's alot of people waste of time, money, and is hard to know when there's going to be less people. Now in the other hand out doors always space for you to jog, fresh air,no smelly people around, very nice even if you get wet from rain but it is better than get wet from some one else's sweats. besides that you don't have to spend a penny and always, any time, and at your own time always!
