Bad Women's Headaches Cured with Acupuncture?

Can Acupuncture cure migranes and headaches?

A very close friend of mine has been suffering from headaches all her life. She has tried everything from physiotheraphy, chiropractics, harsh medication and then recently she even had a brain scan to see if there was a tumor!

All of this brought her no results and she still continued to have bad headaches almost everyday.

However, about six weeks ago I finally managed to convince her to try acupuncture. I have been a kung fu practitioner for many years and the two disciplines are very closely related. Many of the strikes in kung fu are aimed at acupressure points. So, off she went to the Chinese doctor and little did she suspect - magic happened.

How 3 weeks of treatment has almost cured her headaches

My friend went to the Chinese doctor and he did a few of the traditional test. He looked in her eyes and at her tongue and then had a feel of some of the problem spots like her neck and skull. Within minutes he said he knew what the problem was and began the painless process of inserting needles into some pressure points.

As he was examining her he would ask her other health questions that always turned out to be correct. For example, he said do you wake up sweating? Yes. Is your period lighter than it used to be? Yes. The list went on.

He said the treatments would have to last six weeks as the headaches had been around for so long but he would easily be able to cure them. Three weeks into the treatment she hasn’t had a single headache. No painkillers. No asprin. No hardcore drugs.

It is a simple process where the doctor will look at the symptoms and how your energy flows are behaving. For example, during kung fu I once got hit in the chest and by simply looking at the red lines in my eye my kung fu teacher (who wasn’t there at the time) was able to determine almost to the pin point spot where I had been hit and how it had disrupted my energy.

Once your problem is determined the doctor will go about fixing the energy flow by massaging away lumps and tension, fixing your posture much like a physio would and inserting tiny needles to re direct the energy.

Why should you try acupuncture?

If you have a health problem that hasn’t been properly treated by western medicine then you should try Chinese medicine. There are several advantages to this stream of health care.

Firstly, it is natural and based on the body’s make up and energy. As such you will not have any side effects down the track.

Secondly, it is very cheap. The medicines are all made of hebs and the cost of a one hour acupuncture session is usually less then $30. During this time you also get a massage and a sleep!

Thirdly, Chinese medicine has been around for 3000 years and has been known to cure and treat illnesses that other forms of medicine have not. It is gradually being accepted into modern medicine and many hospitals now employ Chinese doctors to come in and help with certain patients.

Big fears women have

My friend put it off for so long but now she is so glad she went. Some of the things she was worried about were:

- would the needles hurt?

- would it affect other medicine I am on?

- are you sure its not mumbo jumbo?

In the end you have two choices: live with your pain or give it a go. The worst thing that could happen is that you get to have a sleep on a bed while someone gives you a massage!
