I came across an interesting article recently that talked about how breast cancer is not the biggest killer of women despite it being the most feared. Have a look.

Statistics show that it is breast cancer that women fear out of all diseases despite the fact that it is not the number one killer of women - not by a long way.
According to the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute the number one cause of female death is heart disease with 365,000 deaths per year as opposed to breast cancer which is way further down on the list with 42,000 deaths per year.
This really is a great testament to the Breast Cancer Councils around the world as it shows that their information and education is getting through and women are taking more notice. The task now is to get other diseases like heart disease promoted to the same level so people know the dangers and how to avoid them.
The top five killers according to the National Heart, Blood and Lung Institute are:
It is quite annoying to see lung cancer up so high on this list as it is well known that the majority of these deaths could be avoided if people stopped smoking. There really is no question about it, if you smoke you are asking for an early death.
Which diseases do you fear the most? Does it worry you often?
