Womens Weight Loss Tone up Talk & Discuss

Dancing for fast and sexy weight loss

Dancing has been taking off here in Australia because of the new series So You Think You Can Dance as a new way to lose weight really quickly. And, I must admit, whether you are a man or a woman you will probably enjoy some of these classes as the moves can tend to get pretty sexy!

Why is dancing good for weight loss?

The idea behind weight loss is that you need to burn more calories than you take in through food and drink. You can do this by reducing the calories, burning more calories or a mixture of both.

But, as we all know, after some time fitness and weight loss can get bloody boring! And this is where the magic of dancing has been kicking in. Dancing can come in many forms and can be of many different intensities and people (women especially) are flocking to the classes knowing that they can get fit and lose weight while they are having fun.

What types of dancing are best for weight loss?

There are so many styles of dancing out there at the moment and some are markedly better for weight loss than others. For example, a slow waltz is not going to burn as many calories as a funky hip hop class.

When you are looking to start a new dance class you need to look at a few things.

Firstly, you should look at your goals. If your goal is weight loss then you need to a pick a fast paced dance class that will keep you moving all the time throughout the whole session. You don’t really want to be standing around for too long discussing technique because your heart rate will not stay up.

Secondly, you need to love it! You need to be having so much fun and laughing at yourself and all that. If you don’t enjoy the dancing style you are doing then you will probably get swept away in all the seriousness and ego that tends to float around dance classes. Trust me, I’ve seen it. It’s not nice!

How do I know which dance style is best?

I have decided to start a weekly (or near weekly) series on dancing that will keep going as long as this phase surrounding So You Think You Can Dance is still pumping. I will be getting in some experts and dance rookies to write some posts or feature in some Q&A’s so that we can check out whats best and whats worst.
