Eating Out Tips for Weight Loss

Everyone likes to eat out. Whether it is with loved ones, mates or even by yourself eating out is good. But, how much does it effect your weight loss progress? This article will talk about the best eating out choices to make when on a weight loss program.

Weight Loss Programs and Eating Out

Many people think that because they are on a weight loss program that they can’t eat out. This isn’t true. Other than a few extreme diets where extreme discipline is needed (Atkin’s, etc.) every diet can make room for movement. Even those strict diets can be catered for in a good resteraunt.

So, if everyone is going out to a party don’t feel like you can’t enjoy yourself just because you are trying to lose a bit of fat. Just make smart choices. Here are some things you can do.

Let people know

If you are on a weight loss program and you will be doing a few ‘weird’ things around dinner time, let everyone know you are on a bit of a diet. Don’t take yourself too seriously, be open to comments and a bit of teasing. It is often a good idea to make a joke of it so that it is easier for people to accept.

For the most part people will be helpful. If you are really skillful, you can even influence a few people to make better choices in their own lives simply by setting a good example. If you lose weight by eating well at dinner and someone sees your success they may just be tempted to try it themselves. And that is wonderful.

Go Asian

Asian places often have good weight loss choices. My girlfriend and I quite often eat at a local Thai resteraunt and I am surprised at how many people are eating good, healthy food. Not by choice, but by the very nature of the food.

Good Asian places use natural ingredients, not much deep frying and no msg. Now, I’m not talking about the local Chinese shop that has deep fried chicken, lemon chicken, honey chicken, etc. I’m talking about more diverse places that have soups, laksas, salads, lean meats steamed or lightly fried, etc. Great socially and great tasting.

Other Resteraunt Choices

However, if you can’t have a nice Asian sald there are plenty of weight loss choices on the menu. It really is easy. Salads are always safe, lean steak, soup, vegetable based dishes… the list is huge.

So, I thought it would be better to post some things that you should avoid if you want to lose weight.

If you wouldn’t eat it at home, don’t eat it there.

However, my personal way of dealing with weight loss when I go out with mates or my beautiful girlfriend is to simply forget about it!

I used to be one of those people who wouldn’t go out to certain places for fear of adding some extra weight. Now, however, I go out and eat what I want for one simple reason:

I know I am strong enough to eat healthy again when I go home.

The time out with friends really should be enjoyed and not damaged by your weight loss concerns. The damage that one serve of pasta or some nice Italian food will do to your weight loss progress is minimal. The problem lies when that ‘cheat meal’ turns into a habit again.
