If you are a woman trying to lose weight you need to gather as many supportive tools as possible. One of the most effective tools for keeping your weight loss motivation on track that I have ever come across was taught to me by a Buddhist meditation master in the snowy Himalayas!
The Himalayas is riddled with monks, nuns, yogis and other meditation practitioners. These people have a special aura about them - so peaceful, happy and beneficial to others.
I travel to North India each year and whilst up there I study some buddhist teachings and meditation and hang out with my monk and yogi friends for a couple of weeks. It recharges my batteries.
One of the teachings that I recieved was about the first thought of the day. The meditation master was saying that when he was alone in the caves meditating he found that if he made his very first thought of the day a positive one like “today I will help all beings” or “I am so happy to be alive with this wonderful opportunity to help people” that his whole day became shaped by that thought and that motivation.
On the other hand, if his first thought was a bad one he found he continued on with those bad thoughts and let them run free in his mind which led to him having a bad day.

I went about trying to implement this teaching and at first it was very difficult. The first thought of the day is usually one about going back to sleep! However, with time you find that you are gradually able to change those negative thoughts by becoming more aware of them. You simply recognise that negative first thought and gently change it into a positive one.
If you are struggling with weight loss it would be a great idea to reaffirm your goal for the day or the year at this time. Try to keep it positive and it is much more powerful if you relate it to helping other people. Some examples might be:
Try and keep the motivations positive. Don’t tell yourself what you CAN’T do, tell yourself what you can do.
Conclusion
With this tip you will find you become better at sticking to your weight loss plans. You will also find you become a better person because you have shaped your day and made it about performing positive activities.
All in all we have to recognise the power of the mind. It is the mind that controls the body and it’s actions. We control the mind.
