Womens Weight Loss Tone up Talk & Discuss

Overcoming Walking Boredom

Yesterday’s post established walking for weight loss as pretty boring. Here we will talk about some tips for making it more intense, enjoyable and effective as a weight loss exercise.

Boosting Weight Loss

In order to boost weight loss it is very important to keep progressing. Adding resistance to weight training or adding intensity to weight loss are the things you need to do to boost your progress. We must never stagnate.

1 | Walk faster

Make walking more challenging by upping the speed whenever you can. For example, if you walk around the streets you could create a game of upping your speed by accelerating whenever you see a person riding their bike or whenever you pass a bus stop or something like that.

The plan here is to eventually be running or jogging and that you will always progress. Of course, this wouldn’t work on a treadmill!

2 | Hills

Make your walking more challenging by adding a big incline - a hill! Hill walking is a great way to prepare for running and will burn many extra calories as well as working on shaping and toning the legs.

3 | Walk with a friend

Exercising with a friend is almost always better. It makes the time pass as well as pushing you along in the hard parts. Meet a friend in the park or at their house and walk together. That way you will have conversation instead of boredom.

4 | Breathing

Something I like to do on my runs is concentrate on my breath. It is very relaxing and very good for you.

As you walk, focus on the breath coming in through your nose and going down deep into your stomach. You will find you have more energy and get less puffed out.
