The Best Weight Loss Breakfast Choices

Weight loss breakfast

When your’re on a weight loss program it can sometimes be difficult to find something good for breakfast. I struggle to eat breakfast for the simple reason that I am just not usually hungry in the morning. Here are some ideas when looking to make weight loss friendly breakfast choice!

Fruit

As you all probably know by now, fruit is the best thing you can do for your diet. It is full of vitamins and minerals and all the goodies that you need to keep healthy.

A fruit salad is a great idea for breakfast as it can be prepared the night before as opposed to doing it in the morning when you are still tired. The mix of fruits is the perfect way to start the day and will keep you going much longer than traditional breakfasts.

I find that it is much easier to eat fruit when the weather is hot so as it gets closer to summer try and switch over to fruit as much as possible.

Eggs

In recent years there has been so much debate over whether eggs are good or bad for you. Well, let me tell you, eggs are good for you. They are packed full of proteins and good fats. Its okay to eat eggs once or twice a week.

Eggs are a good weight loss breakfast choice occasionally as they are full of protein and low in calories. However, I find that eggs leave me feeling heavy and sluggish.

Make sure they free range eggs. Cage eggs are not only very cruel to the chickens who are stuck in the cage all their life, they are full of hormones and other additives that are pumped into the chicken. Free range eggs are natural.

Liquid Breakfast

Another great great GREAT idea for weight loss breakfasts is to have it in liquid form. Now, I’m not talking about blending up your bacon and eggs, I mean having a nice smoothie or protein shake or juice.

If you have a blender you can make a smoothie. Feel free to experiment with different fruits and other items in your smoothie. For example, adding some nice fat free yogurt can make all the difference. You can also add some vitamins or liquid supplements like protein, cod liver oil, etc. to make it all the more healthy.

I am a big fan of eating foods in liquid form (drinking). It allows the nutrients to be absorbed much faster and decreases stress on your digestive system.

Now, when I say juice, I don’t mean having a juice that you buy at the supermarket and keep in the fridge. A juice is only acceptable for breakfast if you make it yourself in a juicer and drink it fresh. I will write more on juicing in a later post because I think it has some amazing secrets to it!

Tea

Tea shouldn’t be drunk on its own for breakfast - you need to have some food. However, tea (green tea especially) is very good for you and the anti-oxidants help in the weight loss progress. Get a good green tea from china town and not the supermarket. There will be an old Chinese guy there who can help you select the best ones!

saundra said:I absolutely love cultured organic low fat cottage cheese 1/2 cup with 1 cup of fresh organic rasberries and 1 tablespoon flax oil or ground flax seeds and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon.
Christine N said:I have been drinking green tea EVERY single day for breakfast and later on during the day (no, the caffeine doesn't keep me up). For breakfast, I try to vary among.. (1) oatmeal (I like Kashi's oatmeal; it's high in fiber and not too bad in terms of sugar) (2) Fat free plain greek yogurt mixed with ground flax seed and frozen fruit (3) multigrain crackers and low-fat cheese. I always give myself two hours in the morning before work to just sit and enjoy my tea and breakfast. I have soy protein smoothies from time to time, depending on availability of fruits... I made a pumpkin protein smoothie the other day. Wasn't bad; I put too much nutmeg though haha.
