Everywhere I read it says that low intensity is best for weight loss. This myth is so annoying and common - it drives me crazy!
When you lose weight there are a few basics you need to know. These basics are essential to your weight loss journey and will be valuable tools in making sure you don’t become an idiot (lost on your path)!
Firstly, when we exercise we burn a MIXTURE of fat and energy at the same time. Read that carefully. It is not that we are only burning sugars or we are only burning fat. Whenever you exercise you burn a mixture of both. So, while you might burn more fat if you exercise before breakfast, it doesn’t mean that you won’t lose any weight after you have something to eat. More importantly, however, this means that you don’t have to plod along for 20 minutes before you start burning fat.
Secondly, the idea is to boost your metabolism. Why? Because when your metabolism is up you are using energy throughout the whole day. This means that food you consume for lunch and dinner is less likely to be stored as fat as it will be needed for energy by the body right away.
Simple! High intensity exercise like sprinting, boxing, circuits and so on is better for weight loss. It burns more calories in a shorter amount of time, it takes less time to perform and most importantly it boosts your metabolism for hours after the workout has finished unlike a jog or a walk where your body goes back to normal almost right away.
So, now you know the truth you can ignore this myth. I want all my readers to experiment with high intensity exercises for a week and write in and tell me how much more weight they are losing and how healthy they look.
