The Scariest Weight Loss Monsters

Weight loss monsters are on the loose! They attack without warning and cause us to lose our way.

What are your biggest weight loss monsters? Do you ever think about it? Lately I have been thinking a lot about which weight loss monsters attack me the most and scare me into weight gain.

Here are some of the biggest offenders!

1 - The slimy green monster of laziness

Quite often I am sitting at home thinking about dinner and the slimy green lazy monster jumps out and orders me to go and get fast food instead of cooking a nice healthy meal.

I am so scared by this weight loss monster that I grab my car keys and head down to the store.

How to beat this monster - Remember your long term goals and be aware that thoughts are just thoughts and you control them!

2 - The hairy and scary monster of habit

This weight loss monster rears his ugly head every now and then and urges me to give in to my old habits of bad eating patterns and sleeping in.

How to beat this monster - Look at the progress you have made with your new habits or weight loss program and remember how good it will feel when you achieve your goal.

3 - The long fanged monster of poor weight loss education

Sometimes I see people getting attacked by this monster out at dinner or at the gym. They will have all these excellent intentions about losing weight or getting it and all of a sudden the monster will bite them on the neck and they will make an innocent mistake.

How to beat this monster - Read as much as you can about diet and fitness so that you don’t make poor decisions. Talk to experts and people who have achieved similar goals to you and learn everything you can from them. Information is power!

4 - The festering blob of food before bed

It really amazes me how people can work hard all day with exercise and other weight loss principles and then have a big meal right before bed or a big snack after dinner. When this monster attacks you will not only see your weight loss progress slow down but you might even notice that you are gaining weight!

How to beat this monster - Be strong! Resist his attacks and use your best defences of a glass of water, some light exercise and will power.

5 - The blood sucking leech of boring workouts

Every week or so I am at the gym and I see someone I know get bitten by this terrible being.

This giant leech only attacks those who do the same workout day in, day out. It makes them so vulnerable that it is almost certain that they will fall victim to this weight loss demon and give up their goals of weight loss.

How to beat this monster - Change your workout every single time. Never do the same workout twice. Go to new weight loss classes, try new workouts, train with a friend - anything you can think of to keep it fun. And remember, all weight loss roads lead to Rome so don’t worry if your new workout isn’t as wonderful as your last one.

Conclusion
There are so many more weight loss monsters out there but I simply cannot bring myself to write of their horrible deeds.

RT said:Thanks for the kind words! I wish all the posts could be this entertaining but, alas, sometimes fitness and weight loss is boring!
who said:Love the post! Great work.

I am a little bit afraid of the monster of habit, he is my biggest enemy. But, I am doing ok so far.
RT said:Keep it up "who". Once the habit monster is defeated he has trouble coming back to life as the new habits are much stronger. Thanks for the comment.
