Womens Weight Loss Tone up Talk & Discuss

Weight loss in the golden beach sand

I went to the beach to celebrate Australia Day yesterday and thought about weight loss. Yep, that’s right. The whole time I was wading in the clear waters under a warm yellow sun I was thinking about you guys and your weight loss perils!

Here are some weight loss ideas I thought about for a day at the beach.

How to lose weight at the beach

I know the title of the post and the introduction talk about losing weight at the beach but something that occurred to me as I was doing some backstroke in the flat silk waters was that you have to take your weight loss ideas where ever you go in your travels.

What I mean by this is that many people let go of their weight loss goals for a few hours of a few days a week an expect that their progress will not be affected. However, this is not so, it can be quite problematic.

As I always say, it is okay to have a cheat day every now and then as long as you are sure that you can stick to your old weight loss goals as soon as that day is over. However, if you think a cheat day is going to cause you to slip into bad habits then you should try to avoid them. The same goes for the beach, the movies, the pool, the arcade… anywhere you go where you could be reminded or pressured to fall into old ways.

Actual beach weight loss exercises

However, it would be a bit weird if I didn’t talk about some weight loss exercises that you could do on the beach so here goes.

Walking
I know walking is a long time well known weight loss exercise but I noticed walking from the beach to my car that walking in the sand is a lot harder than I thought. I made a promise to myself to head down to the beach every now and then to do a long half a day power walk as I think it would really challenge my long distance fitness. It is a bit like hiking.

Swimming
Swimming in the ocean is different to a pool. The salt water and the waves really get to you and you have to work a lot harder to get anywhere. Mixing a swim with a run is great exercise.

Iron Man
If you have ever seen one of those Iron Man competitions on television then you will know that they are very very boring! Just kidding. I had the idea that I could ride my bike to the beach (about 5 miles) and then run along the beach for a couple of miles, then swim back to where I left my bike and then ride home. This would be a great long distance challenge and would be really great preparation for a big game or some event where you needed to be super fit.

Mixing up your training with these different types of exercises is a really great idea. It keeps it interesting and it forces all your muscles to get worked out when they would otherwise be relaxing at the normal gym type workouts.
