Why Weight Loss Diets SUCK!

Women are really into their weight loss diets these days but I am here to remind you all that weight loss diets suck! Want to find out why?

What is wrong with weight loss diets?

When you go on a weight loss diet there are certain things that happen. These things can be good or they can be bad depending on what type of a person you are and how well you know your body and the food that goes in it.

The main thing that I do not like about weight loss diets is that they are extreme. They teach you to behave and eat in ways that are not natural and that, most importantly, are not sustainable. And when you have a weight loss diet that tells you to do something for a certain period of time you can almost guarantee that when you stop doing that thing you are going to put the weight right back on.

For example, take a look at the Atkins Diet. This is a diet where you are told to restrict you intake of carbs and sugars to almost zero. You feed your body 100% on fats and protein and as such you are told that you will be burning fat for energy all day because your body has no readily available juices to burn. But the problem with this scheme is that while you may be burning some fat you are also burning some health! Fruits and vegetables are vital for health and without them things start to go wrong in your body.

But the main thing that is wrong with the Atkins Diet is that most people report that the weight comes right back as soon as you reintroduce the carbs and sugars. It isn’t sustainable. And, this is the case for most weight loss diets where you are told to do something extreme.

So how should a weight loss diet be?

I have written many posts on what a weight loss diet should include but there is one main thing that I teach my friends, clients and readers - it has to be about health. If you make your diet about health instead of weight loss then I guarantee you will lose weight and the weight will stay off. It is a fundamental principle I use in my life and I have had success with it.

Next time you are choosing a meal you should look at it and ask yourself “Is this healthy?”. You can look at the make up of the foods like how many calories, fats, protein, etc. are in it but you should also look at the ingredients. Look at whether it is refined white sugar or whether it is honey used to sweeten it. Look at whether the ingredients are bleeched and processed or are the natural and organic. These are the important decisions to make.

Why is this so good?

Not only does eating healthy help you lose weight it helps you develop a healthy and happy life. Fueling your body with good food and drink leaves you feeling excellent! You can take pride that you are looking after yourself and your family. And, the weight stays off.

Conclusion
Eating healthy as opposed to eating for weight loss is one of Real Women’s Fitness.com’s most important principles. It should be adopted by anyone who wants to change their body or lifestyle. It isn’t hard to do.

When we have a healthy body we have a healthy mind to think over. No need to plan for tedious workouts. Plan smaller workouts and keep small goals to lose weight initially. As you meet smaller goals, you can aim for larger goals. You should plan in such a way that exercises and diet should go simultaneously and regularly.

If you are exercising and not following the diet or if you are following diet and not exercising, you cannot achieve your goal of losing weight and fitness. So from this we can conclude that fitness and exercise have no substitutes.
