I hate exercise but I love my music

I have a confession… I hate to exercise. Yep, here I am writing on a fitness website and I’ve just admitted it, exercise is one of my least favourite activities. But you know what I do love? Music. I love to dance, I love to sing, I love to listen and I love to watch.

I found myself on the crosstrainer the other day, trying to get motivated to push a little bit harder, but not really wanting to. Cos it hurts. And I don’t like pain. All of a sudden my ipod challenges me, “Kelly can you handle this? Michelle can you handle this? Beyonce, can you handle this?”. And this got me thinking, “Peta, Can you handle this? I don’t think you handle this. Wooo”. Now it’s me against the music (excuse the music pun) and I’m off. I’m looking ‘round the gym; lady on the bike “I don’t think you’re ready for this jelly”; man lifting weights “I don’t think you’re ready for this jelly”;worker mopping the floor definitely not “ready for this jelly”. Hey all y’all in the gym “My bodies to bootylicious for you, babe”.

Now all silly lyrics aside, my mind was too busy “scatting some jazz” to realise that I had been running my little ass off for three and a half minutes. And what’s more, when the song was over I still wanted more. I had this whole scene going in my head, I was the hottest pop star in the world for those three and a half sweet minutes and I wanted it to continue. So on I went, loosening up my buttons, workin my goodies, droppin it like it’s hot, getting retarded and even boom shakin the room.

I gotta tell you, I went home feeling like a million bucks. I had just had the best work out of my life, and I had fun. So I’ll leave you with a few words of wisdom from the dutchess herself. “My body stayin vicious, I be up in the gym just working on my fitness”

Stay tuned because I’ll be bringing you the freshest songs each week so that you can jive up your workout.

Teri said:I totally agree! I love music and love to dance also. Before I go to work I put on a CD and start moving to the music while I,m getting ready or doing housework on the weekend. I\'ve taken ballet and modern so I try to combined the two in my somewhat nonrigid routien with just plain old out on the dance floor dancin\'. It\'s fun to come up with different routiens, keeps the boredom to a minimum. So girls if you haven\'t tried it, give it a whirl, put on the music and dance yourself into better health. Have fun! Bye Bye!

Rach said:Totally agree - i have my fantasies to my iPod - I'm on stage at Madison Square Garden, or Wembley - belting out a number, and vbeing worshipped as the sexiest pop godess the world's ever seen - and it's amazing how much quicker 5 minutes goes when you're having fun ! I love working out to Pink, Christina Aguilera, Kelly Clarkson, Beyonce and Destiny's Child, Live - there are several"workout" playlists on my iPod now - based on mood and what we're doing (upper or lower, cardio or weight...etc). I CAN"T exercise wihtout music !
